Barnaby Walters is a hurdy Gurdy player and folk dancer who has participated in Vaka since the beginning. At this workshop he will teach the Balfolk way of dancing including waltz and schottische. After the concerts in the evening participants will get a chance to try the steps to live music.
Bring an instrument and learn a tune. For beginners and advanced players who want to learn a couple of simple traditional dance tunes.
An introduction to the steps of Icelandic and Nordic dances. Participants will have a chance to then try out the steps with live music in the evening after the concerts.

Wilma Young is a Shetland fiddle player who has lived and worked in Iceland for many years. Here she will teach a few traditional tunes by ear.

16:30: Folk music in Iceland- where do we go from here?
An informal discussion about the the future of the folk scene in Iceland. What would a folk music organization look like and how would it serve us? What kind of events to we want to organize? What are some of the hurdles to playing folk music in Iceland?
